Stress management/meditate for stress

The purpose of Meditation is to change things. What things? Almost everything in your life. The results of Meditation change mind and body.

The biggest murderer of the planet today is stress.
It is not cancer, heart attacks, AIDS, it is stress.
Stress suppresses the body's natural immune system and therefore reduces it's ability to fight disease, and thus stay healthy.
Therefore, stress is the underlying cause of many health issues we suffer from today. Cure stress and you are well on your way to leading a happy, healthy and long life.
What is the best cure for stress? Meditation.
Today the high pressure and highly competitive environment is to blame for creating this atmosphere of tension, which affects us all.
From elementary school onward, through college and career, the mantra is to reach the top. Everyone seems to be fighting to be king of the hill, and being in this battle together, everyone seems to be suffering from stress.

It's time to turn our attention now to this silent murderer and neutralize it with the elixir of meditation.
Meditation is the right way to beat stress for two reasons.

Firstly, it transforms us into a deep, peaceful beings who are much more able to handle stressful situations.

Secondly, the mood induced by meditation is excellent for self-healing to occur and therefore, reverses the damage it has caused by inducing stress in the  body.

Let us look into these two reasons more deeply now.
Meditation is the art of living in the now. It teaches us how to ignore a host of troubling and anxiety causing thoughts and appreciate and live each moment fully and completely. The more you practice the art of living in the moment, the more we are at peace with our lives.
Meditation eliminates the constant grinding habits of the past, as well as our concern for what the future will bring. This change in how we approach our lives dramatically reduces the amount of self-inflicted stress that we have to deal with.

In addition to the reduction of thought induced by stress, meditation also teaches us how to stay calm in the face of a storm. In our meditation practice we are actually learning not to escape from the moment. We are learning to absorb the difficulty when presented to us in a controlled environment. This translates into  less stress and remaining calm when facing difficulties life throws at us in our daily life.

In essence, stress is primarily the result of life  not being exactly the way we want it to be.  Through meditation, one can begin to accept life as it is, therefore diminishing the part in us that wants things to be different. When you drop expectations of life being like this or like that you drop the stress associated with the constant search as well.
As mentioned, meditation helps us to heal the damage caused by stress. Meditation produces a state of mind that may be called  relaxed awareness. Relaxed state of consciousness is more conducive to self healing.

Mountains of medical research has recently emerged about the health benefits of a positive attitude and relaxed mind, and how daily meditation creates this wonderful state and promotes self-healing from the ravages of stress.
So the recipe is simple - decide if you want to be healed and stay healthy.
The silent murderer is stress, but to kill stress, just practice sitting in silence.
